매미
매미의 찬양

무더운 여름의 열기 속
작고 까만 매미 한 마리가
창가 나뭇가지에 매달려
온몸으로 노래를 토해냅니다

강약을 타는 떨림의 선율은
슬픔을 머금은 빛깔로
가슴속에 조용히 강을 풀어 놓고
불꽃처럼 치솟는 고음은
무더위를 가르며 시원한 바람이 됩니다

짧은 몇 날, 노래하는 자로 살기 위해
칠 년을 땅속에서 흙을 베개 삼고
몸을 말고 굼벵이로 숨 쉬며
하늘을 향한 꿈을 키워온 매미—
이제 푸른 무대 위 음유시인이 되었습니다

햇살 속 찰나의 날갯짓을 위해
칠 년의 어둠을 견뎌낸 이 찬가를
시끄러운 울음이라 여기지 말고
하늘의 숨결을 머금은
거룩한 노래로 들을 수 있게 하소서

우리 또한 매미처럼
하늘에서 내려온 불씨를 가슴에 품고
삶의 거센 비바람 속에서도
흔들리지 않는 믿음으로
빛나는 이름을 노래하게 하소서

Cicada's Praise

In the sweltering heat of summer,
A small, black cicada
Clings to a branch outside the window,
Pouring out its song with its whole being.

Its trembling melody, shifting in rhythm,
Carries tones steeped in sorrow,
Unfurling a quiet river in the heart,
While its fiery high notes
Cut through the heat, becoming a cooling breeze.

To live as a singer for but a few days,
It spent seven years with soil for a pillow,
Coiling its body, breathing as a larva,
Nurturing a dream toward the sky—
Now it has become a minstrel upon the green stage.

For that fleeting flutter below the sun,
This song endured seven years of darkness;
Let it not be dismissed as mere noise,
But heard as a sacred hymn
Infused with the breath of heaven.

May we too, like the cicada,
Hold in our hearts the spark sent from above,
And through life’s fierce winds and rain,
With unwavering faith,
Sing the name that shines.
